Hydromancy, also called water divination or saucer divination, is a form of divination in sacred pools and bowls.
Requirements:
- A shallow dish (preferably one made of silver)
- Spring water
The optical effects of the water—the reflection—is paramount, which is why a shiny bowl works better than a dull one. The water can be tinted with a little bit of ink or wine, since they still offer a reflection.
